Our July meeting is Saturday, July 17 at 10am. Our speakers are Judge Genesis Draper and Judge Natalia Cornelio, who will update us on bail/bond reform. There is ongoing controversy over this, and it will be great to hear the facts from the judges who deal with these issues every day.
We are excited to be back IN PERSON at Heights Christian Church, 1703 Heights Blvd., in the sanctuary (not the basement due to church events). Please follow CDC guidance: wear a mask over your mouth and nose at all times if you are not vaccinated, and please respect others’ preferences for social distancing. If you are vaccinated, masks are optional.
If you are joining by Zoom, email us at [email protected] for the Zoom link. Please email BEFORE the meeting starts. Please keep mics and video off when you are not speaking. You can use the “raise hand” feature to speak or type comments in the chat. A board member will be monitoring the Zoom to communicate comments to those attending in person.
Our speaker for our August 21 meeting at 10am is Liyah Brown, Legal Director for the Criminal Injustice Program at the Texas Civil Rights Project. Our in-person meeting will be back in the basement hall of Heights Christian Church, 1703 Heights Blvd. The Zoom information is the same as for July.
For September, on Saturday, September 18 from 10am-noon, we will host an Elected Official Meet-and-Greet, where you will have a chance to meet and talk with local Democratic elected officials. This will be in the Heights Christian Church basement hall.
